MIXED martial arts returns to the city on Saturday evening as the ever-popular Cage Gladiators hits the Liverpool Olympia with another action-packed card.
A packed Olympia will be treated to two British title fights on the 12-bout bill , with no less than eight Liverpudlians entering the cage.
The spotlight is on young Jay McGuiness who challenges tough Glaswegian James Doolan for the vacant British bantamweight title.
McGuiness, 21, from Tuebrook, has built up a perfect 6-0-0 record to earn a shot at the prestigious British title.
The Next Generation fighter is under no illusions of the task ahead of him.
He said: “Doolan is very tough with more experience than me, but I’ve trained harder than ever for this fight and I’m not leaving the Olympia without that shiny belt around my waist.”
Scotsman Doolan 11-2-0,will have to go into the lions’ den to defeat McGuiness who will have great home support behind him.
However, Doolan has never been beaten at domestic level.
McGuiness, though, remains highly confident: “I see him coming out blazing in the first round.
“I’ll tie him up and submit him in the second round!”
Wavertree’s Team Kaobon are in for a busy night with five fighters on the card.
