RETIRING NURSE Sue Schofield revealed how she called in at the wrong address on a housecall – and treated an unsuspecting man to a bedbath in his home!
The 59-year-old mum of three is bowing out of the profession after 43 years.
Her varied nursing career includes midwifery and children’s nursing. Most recently she had been working as a district nursing team leader.
A retirement lunch was held at Maghull Health Centre where colleagues presented her with a bouquet and gift vouchers, and read out poems they had written.
Sue, 59, said: “I have loved all of my jobs in nursing. It is a very rewarding profession with lots of responsibility and job satisfaction.
“There have been a few funny moments along the way, such as one occasion when I went out and gave a man a bed bath at his home.
“It wasn’t until I returned to my workplace that I realised I’d gone to the wrong house. The man had just gone along with it without saying a word.”
At 17 Sue started working for the NHS at Alder Hey as a children’s nurse.
