John and Paul start pedalling for Marina Dalglish Appeal

A MAGHULL man and his mate are embarking on a mammoth bike ride in aid of Liverpool Unites and the Marina Dalglish Appeal thius weekend.

Electrical engineer John Hunt and newspaper sales deputy manager Paul McQueen, who both work at the Liverpool Echo, plan to cycle 54 miles in less than three hours.

They will take part in the Liverpool-Chester-Liverpool Bike Ride on Sunday, July 5.

John and Paul will power their way through the Birkenhead tunnel and around the Wirral countryside to Chester and back.

John said his inspiration for supporting the Marina Dalglish charity started two years ago when he raised money for the oncology unit at Fazakerley Hospital.

This year he needed to visit Clatterbridge with a member of his family who had to undergo radiotherapy treatment.

He said: “I want to help the Marina Dalglish Appeal in its aim to help build a much needed Radiotherapy Centre in Liverpool, bringing the treatment closer to the patients.
