A REALITY TV star from Maghull who nearly died after his drink was spiked was cleared of supplying date rape drugs.
Daniel Latimer was charged after telling police he was given some GHB in an eye-drop bottle by a man in a service station, Hull crown court heard.
But the 24-year-old, who appeared on Channel 4 show Shipwrecked, was cleared earlier this week after the Crown Prosecution Service offered no further evidence.
His barrister Mark Bury said the officer had “misunderstood” what Mr Latimer had told him.
Judge Neil Clark ruled the note the officer made after the conversation was “unreliable.”
Mr Latimer was appearing as a guest DJ at the Sugar Mill nightclub when he collapsed after his drink was spiked with GHB.
His former friend and ex-Brookside actor Kris Mochrie, 24, will be sentenced at a later date after pleading guilty to supplying class C drugs and perverting the course of justice.
Mr Latimer was in intensive care and a coma following his collapse in September last year.
