Aintree Racecourse McDonald’s put in application to open 24 hours a day

Mc Donalds

A PLANNING application has been submitted to allow Aintree McDonald’s to open round the clock.

But one local councillor believes staying open all night will attract “undesirables ” to the fast food restaurant at the Racecourse Retail Park on Ormskirk Road.

The local parish council has also written to Sefton council to express fears that the move would result in anti-social behaviour which would affect Aintree Village residents.

The application will be heard next Tuesday at Southport Town Hall. Aintree Parish’s Council clerk, Glyn Harris, has written to the planning department ahead of the meeting.

In the letter he said: “We all remember the problems connected with the Paradox nightclub and the unruly behaviour which followed at around 3am, earlier than the hours requested by the restaurant, and which led to residents being disturbed and having to sleep in rear bedrooms etc, quite apart from damage to private property.

“ASDA once kept their cafe open throughout the night but had to close it due to similar behaviour.”

Molyneux ward councillor Jack Colbert said he believes the move will attract undesirables.

He said: “People want to sleep at night and do not want drunken yobbos getting meals after being on the ale at 3am. I really will oppose it, and have written a letter to Sefton Council venting my concerns.

“It will cause rowdiness. When the Paradox was open it was an absolute nightmare.”
