A CAMPAIGN has been launched in Liverpool to get neighbours working together towards a healthy lifestyle.
TV presenter Carol Vorderman is spearheading the Neighbourhood Health Watch, which concentrates on Liverpool, Glasgow and Birmingham.
Around 50 people are being recruited from each location to work together in a quest for healthiness.
Ms Vorderman, who has teamed up with Lloyds pharmacy for the scheme, said: “Trying to maintain a healthier lifestyle can be a lonely business.
“If you do not have a network of support around you, it is easy to slip back into bad habits.
“If you have close family support, that’s great, but lots of people have to go it alone when they decide to do more exercise, stop smoking, follow a better diet or cut back on alcohol.
“And yet all around us – probably on the same street – there are people in the same boat, people who have the same goals and who are struggling with the same motivational barriers.
“If they get together with healthcare professionals like pharmacists, they are much more likely to stay the course.”
Liverpool was chosen due to some of its depressing health statistics.
