Five cases of swine flu confirmed in Liverpool

FIVE new cases of swine flu have been confirmed in Liverpool.

The latest was reported yesterday and follows four others since Friday.

All of the cases are said to be linked.

The first city case – a man– was confirmed five days ago.

On Saturday a woman was diagnosed with the virus , followed by a man and another woman on Sunday.

Yesterday it confirmed another Liverpool man and a woman from Ormskirk had the virus.

All have been in close contact with the man diagnosed on Friday, and it is believed two areclose relatives

It is thought the first victim had been in contact with an overseas visitor, who was showing symptoms of the virus.

A Health Protection Agency spokesman said: “All are being treated with antiviral drugs and are at home.
