Liverpool’s Healthy Homes scheme nominated for two major awards

A PIONEERING scheme that aims to protect some of society’s most vulnerable people has been shortlisted for two major awards.

Healthy Homes is up for both a Municipal Journal Award and National Business Award.

Run jointly by Liverpool City Council, Liverpool Primary Care Trust and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, Healthy Homes aims to boost health, cut winter deaths and increase life expectancy.

Its staff will be visiting more than 30,000 people in the city to identify those with the greatest health needs.

Cllr Berni Turner said: “People living in privately rented homes are as entitled to a safe and healthy environment as people who own their own property.”
